Divvy Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 4, 2026 · Applies to the Divvy Android app (com.baqir.divvy)

Divvy is an expense-splitting app that helps you track shared bills with friends and groups. This policy explains what information Divvy collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We keep it simple because the app is simple: Divvy exists to split bills, not to profit from your data.

The short version: Divvy collects your Google account basics (name, email, profile photo) to sign you in, and the expenses, groups, and receipt photos you choose to add. We don't run ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers needed to run the app.

1. Information we collect

CategoryDetails
Account information When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your name, email address, and profile picture URL from your Google account. Divvy never sees or stores your Google password.
Content you create Groups you create or join, friends you connect with, and the expenses you record — amounts, descriptions, currency, splits, and settlement status.
Receipt photos If you choose to scan a receipt, the photo you take (or pick from your library) is uploaded so its line items can be read automatically. The camera is only used when you actively scan a receipt.

Divvy does not collect your contacts, location, phone number, advertising identifiers, or usage analytics.

2. How we use your information

That's the complete list. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or marketing, and we never sell it.

3. Who can see your information

Divvy is a social app by design: your username and profile picture are visible to people you connect with, and the bills you add to a group or share with a friend are visible to the people involved in them. Nothing you enter is public.

4. Service providers

Divvy runs on a small set of infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf:

ProviderPurpose
Google (Sign-In)Authentication — verifying your Google account when you sign in.
Google CloudHosting the Divvy server and storing receipt images.
SupabaseHosting the Divvy database.
GroqAutomated reading of receipt photos to extract line items. Receipts are sent for processing only when you scan one.

These providers receive only what they need to perform their function and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

5. Data retention and deletion

Your information is kept for as long as your account is active so that shared balances stay accurate for everyone involved. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time — see Delete Your Divvy Account for the steps. Requests are actioned within 30 days. Note that expenses recorded with other users may be retained in anonymized form so their balances remain correct.

6. Security

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to production data is restricted to the developer and protected by authentication.

7. Children

Divvy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
